I'm committed to the Cardinal fans out there, it's not about money for me.

We're teetering on the brink of an "I'm a better fan than you" showdown.

The normally very accurate Matthew Leach on the Cardinals' website spoke in an e-mail column that the Cardinals would get two draft picks for Pujols leaving:
If Edwin Jackson signs with another ballclub, will the Cardinals receive any compensation Draft picks in return? Thanks!
-- Brian S., Centralia, Mo.

Yes. The Cardinals would receive a "sandwich" pick between the first and second rounds for Jackson, and they will also receive one for Octavio Dotel. They will receive two picks as compensation for Pujols' departure.
But I think some here were saying it's one due to the new CBA. Which is right?

Is it not the first rounder and the sandwich pick for Pujols? I didn't think the new CBA impacted the compensation pick structure for the top tier Type A FAs. It was just the ones who qualified as Type A that really weren't special - Dotel, Darren Oliver, Juan Cruz, etc.

Forget Slaten, what about J.C. Corcoran?

It's obvious to me that Pujols signed with the Angels just to prove Corcoran wrong.
