What would 10K in miles even get you, a portion of a domestic ticket?

I'm guessing something like that. I bought my last flight using frequent flyer miles (granted, it was with Delta, not United - so the Star Alliance points may be more or less than Delta's requirements), and it was 40,000 miles to fly from Syracuse to Springfield, MO.cardinalkarp wrote:What would 10K in miles even get you, a portion of a domestic ticket?
Delta used to offer a promotion type thing where you could use 10k miles at a time to subtract $100 off of your airfare.

They're worth about two cents each, so $200.

So that only covers the phone bill for the hour I spent talking to their useless customer reps in India.Arthur Dent wrote:They're worth about two cents each, so $200.

Looks like 12,500 gets you a one-way economy ticket. So it's several hundred bucks at least.cardinalkarp wrote:What would 10K in miles even get you, a portion of a domestic ticket?

a one way ticket only available at non blackout dates. A ticket you could likely find for <$150.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Looks like 12,500 gets you a one-way economy ticket. Now he only has to spend $50 for another 2500 points + a $100 booking fee for a one way ticket to fly somewhere in a country he doesn't live on an airline he's not going to fly again. Sounds like a great deal.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Looks like 12,500 gets you a one-way economy ticket. Can you sell your miles? If so, I guess it has some value.

Re: United Airlines, I hate you deeply.
Was about to book flight thru United - entered payment info, hit enter, and was sent to another webpage prompting me to re-enter my cc info with last 4 digits of my ss# to enroll for free to make sure my card is extra-secure. Really weird, and I didn't want to do this crap so called up United. Ended up with their web support dept that pretty much confessed that someone has hacked their website. Glad I didn't proceed. + Searched around and found a better flight with another airline.
