Of all the head scratching moments in game 6, what gets me was the pitch location to Freese when he hit the triple. 1-2 count and Napoli is setting up right on the middle of the plate, thigh high. Feliz hit the target, fortunately for us.

Watch that replay again. I just can't believe Napoli setup there.

I see that, and I agree. The location was dumb. I'll have to see if I can dig it up, but remember reading a quote from Napoli after the game where they asked him about the pitch. He said something like "Feliz throws 98MPH. We thought we could get a fastball past him." Or something to that effect.

The way Freese was swinging in the playoffs and with his power to the opposite field, he was one of the few in the lineup who could catch a 98MPH fastball and drive it. It makes me wonder if they had overconfidence in the fastball, or underestimated Freese, or both. Did the Rangers see how Freese hit in the NLCS? Or did they just blow off the scouting report? Who knows. They maybe got a little bit arrogant and paid dearly for it.

One of my favorite moments of the season was captured on the WS DVD bonus disc, Albert's 2,000th hit.

What happens when best friends are geographically seperated during a big game? Technology to the rescue! Texts from m1ironmik and myself during game 6. Mike was actually at work I think and following on radio.

mike: Berkman reminds me of .... Me! (included video of a softball homerun he hit who knows when)

jim: Exactly

mike: Now that is Cardinal baseball.

jim: NL schooling there.

mike: Jesus Garcia get ur head out of ur ass and quit nibbling.

jim: Nibbled then grooved on.

mike: I am at work and listening but thats what it sounds like.

mike: PItchin scared

jim: He's close and then gets behind and grooves it.

mike: Hershiser on the radio .. Great color man .. I learn more in 30 seconds of him describing various techniques than I have in my entire life ... I can't believe he isn't a pitching coach.

jim: Glad he's not because I love him. Do they still have campbell?

mike: No valentine and some espn guy

mike: r u [expletive] kidding me ... Jesus holliday get ur head out of ur ass

mike: Why r we pitchin to napoli ... [expletive]

mike: we don't deserve to win

jim: He had napoli easy

mike: Hell texas dont deserve to win either

jim: Holliday destroyed Andrus

mike: Take out slide? They never said a word about that on the radio.

jim: Big time. Old school.

mike: Diet pepsi tastes better when it is won on a cards-cubs bet! (picture of Mike holding up a bottle of diet pepsi with his arm around some sheepish looking Cub fan)

mike: wtf is up with holliday ... Get ur head out of ur ass

jim: terrible terrible

mike: Did tlr actually have the balls to yank holliday or is that [expletive] claiming he is hurt again

jim: Hurt apparently.

mike: [expletive] ... big [expletive] [expletive].

jim: Not a fan. 20 inch biceps with a 2 inch dck.

mike: And a ten cent head.

mike: U know what burns my ass is tlr will defend that [expletive] and he ran rolen a guy that gave 110% out of st louis.

jim: Yep. They are saying he bruised his little finger.

mike: Feels like we r down ten runs.

jim: I'm worried. I can't give up though. I can't let this go.

mike: Laird ... World series hero? Let us pray

jim: Never know

mike: Descalso ... Good hustle!

jim: Andrus sucks.

Mike: Atta boy jay!

jim: I threw out my shoulder.

mike: Lol how?

jim: Fist pump etc... It's ph now. Damn furcal.

mike: R u [expletive] kiddin me

jim: I'm going to cry.

mike: I know hamilton is hobbled by why in the [expletive] is motte pitching to him and not rhodes.

jim: I don't know but my son asked the same question before the hr

mike: Jesus what a sloppy yet exciting game ... We really need theriot to get it done ... The it up and let pujols win it or berkman.

jim: Insane.

mike: Omg!

jim: Unreal. We r going to win this thing.

mike: In as much as cardinal fans will never forget and immortalize david freese they will every bit as much never forgive matt holiday for being a [expletive].

Watched game 6 last night in its entirety for the first time since it happened. Looking back on it now, I agree with those on here who think that Washington's baffling calls in game 6 cost the Rangers a title. There were about 4-5 instances from the 8th inning on that left me scratching my head in hindsight. Stuff like pulling Feldman for Lowe in the 11th, playing them in a no doubles D in the 10th with runners on 1st and 2nd when Pujols was the runner at 1st, and no Endy Chavez in the field in the 9th were just absolute head scratchers.

Rest assured, if TLR had done the same things, the anti-TLR crowd would still be howling about it right now. TLR took heat for game 5, but I don't think I've ever seen more incompetent managing than what Ron Washington brought to the table in game 6.

Also, watching the 10th inning, I started thinking and I'll just lay it out here as a question...

If the Rangers didn't intentionally walk Albert Pujols with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th to face Berkman, are the Cardinals still 2011 World Series Champions?

With the way he'd hit outside of game 3, I say no.

Discuss...
