That, and the fact that the cap hit to the team that might trade for him makes him virtually untradable. So had the Rams been able to draft Luck, Bradford would become either the highest paid backup in NFL history, or a really expensive release.

For sure. I wasn't really addressing the tradeability factor just his status as a potential star QB. Still, if he ends up busting the Rams are just the Raiders vis a vis Jamarcus Russell. It's not like it hasn't happened before.

Seattle needs a QB so if any of Arizona, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Miami, Arizona, Denver, KC, Wash, Cle aren't sold on their current QB's the pick could be pretty valuable.
I heard that Polian was fired because he wanted to get Luck and cut Manning.

Polian is a pretty close friend of Manning. I think the opposite may be true.

Polian was fired because he hired his inept son, Chris, as GM. I hadn't realized this as Bill Polian is the only name I've ever really heard around here with these decisions.

Rumors are that Chris is the reason many of the coaches and scouts have left the organization recently and part of the lackluster drafting as of late.

But the rumors are that Irsay is very interested in Luck and Manning. Most believe teh two can and will co-exist if for no other reason most don't think manning has more than a year or two anyway.

That's what I thought, too. But it's not what was the main story on what I listened to today. And in reading a little more this afternoon, I see that Peyton hadn't been too happy with some of Polian's recent comments.

Jim Thomas
Looks like only possible hangup for Jeff Fisher and the Rams are concerns about team moving to LA.

He met with Bradford today, also and toured the Rams facilities.

Sounds like it comes down to Rams and Dolphins for Fisher's services.

On Fisher -my two bits again. I never liked him as the Titan's coach, a sideline prick. He went all out in preseason games to avenge the Titan's SB loss to Rams. That turns when he becomes our prick. He's a tough competitor, and his teams reflect that. Played in a tough division. Had oddball ownership to work with in Tenn. Seems like he has a good group of assistants he wants to bring in.

So yeah, the Rams are a mess, and this sort of guy is needed. I don't think a HC novice would work. Especially since the GM is new as well. Fisher is not too far gone from the game - not like bringing back a Ditka to coach.

But, it's hard to picture Fisher picking the Rams over the Dolphins, assuming the money is comparable.
Rams future in STL is uncertain. Playing half your games in that [expletive] dome doesn't exactly inspire a football romantic.
Perhaps the main factor in the Rams favor (excluding money) is the chances for rebuilding in the NFC West is better than in the same division with Pats, Bills, Jets.

The money won't be comparable. Miami will outbid St. Louis if that's the deciding factor.

But, there's a few other chips in the Rams favor. For starters, they have their man in Bradford (I still wouldn't have passed on Suh for him, but I hold out hope he can be a solid starting QB nonetheless). I doubt Miami is sold on Matt Moore, they won't get Luck, and they probably won't get RG3. Having a QB in place is a point for the Rams. Second, that #2 overall pick for St. Louis is especially valuable with the rookie caps in place. Having Bradford + Kalil/Blackmon might seem like a steady foundation and could sway Fisher to St. Louis.
