The packers' offense is head and shoulders better than the patriots'. Defensively, they're about even, but the packers get a ton more turnovers. I don't think it would be a blowout, and I'm not saying they can't outplay us any given sunday, but i think it's pretty far from a "toss up" .

The Patriots gained more yardage than the Packers and only put up a couple points less per game. They give up less points per game than the Packers. It's a close matchup. It's also hypothetical. Both teams still have pretty tough paths to the game but the Patriots are a step closer than the Pack right now.

Wow, this baffles me. Do you know how many times we sat on the ball for the entire second half? How many times we pulled Rodgers in the 4th quarter? How many low-pressure games we had? And everyone knows Belichick never lays off the gas. The stats mean absolutely nothing.

The ONLY offensive position where the Patriots have an advantage is tight end, and Finley is no slouch either.

The Packers are undoubtedly the most underrated 15-1 team ever. Most people had the Saints in the Super Bowl this year (from my personal experience). Now I'm guessing people are thinking Giants. Everyone forgets about the Packers and how ridiculously good their season was. If they were the Patriots, they'd be undoubted favorites.

I agree, Rx............ not to mention that the Packers are the defending champs. They've had a run over the last year and a half that's been as good as any in recent memory.

Lighten up. There's no such thing as an underrated 15-1 team. All anyone talked about the entire year was the Packers and Tebow so basically it was the greatest year possible for you. I've been nothing but complimentary of the Packers all year. They are the one team that kept this season interesting for me and I tried to watch them as often as possible. You are the one that said they are head and shoulders better than the Pats and I happen to disagree. The Patriots have won nine in a row and look to me like they are clicking well. They could easily beat the Packers. But the mere suggestion that anyone other than the Pack is the overwhelming favorite apparently offends you. I apologize. It's incredibly difficult to win back to back Super Bowls and even the best teams lose (see:2007 Patriots). If your beef is with the talking heads on ESPN then don't direct it at me.

Sorry if I came off as combative, my general thoughts aren't directed at you or the ESPN guys (rarely turn on ESPN), just the general consensus of the dozens of football fans I have talked to in the past few weeks. Your points seem to kind of mirror everything I have seen so far

I think you're overstating my position a little bit as well. I don't think they're overwhelming favorites. I don't think they would blow out the Patriots (or anyone). I don't think they're unbeatable. I said so a couple of posts back.

But they absolutely should be the favorites right now, and I just haven't gotten that vibe from the fan community.

I literally have not heard any non-packer fan predict that the Packers will win the super bowl. I've heard more than half of the teams in the playoffs predicted as super bowl champions.

Obviously this is solely personal experience, and maybe this happens every year just because people like to root for the underdogs and I'm just paying more attention now. But it certainly didn't seem that way when the Patriots, Colts, Saints, and Steelers were on top.
