Re: Offseason Tourney
Okay, so out of the (boring) nominations, the consensus among actual nominations seems to be something regarding TV shows or movies.
And cheese by doc. If we do this, I call Guinness Cheddar, or English Sage Derby.

Re: Offseason Tourney
My recommendations:
Best Rapper Alive. Bracketted by regions (east coast, west coast, midwest, dirty south).
Greatest American Rock Band. I consider this a wide-open field. Aerosmith? Metallica? Lynyrd Skynyrd? OK, the answer is too obvious (ZZ Top).
Beer. I suggest the following region brackets for fun: American Mega-breweries (Budweiser, Coors Light, Miller Lite, I'd even toss Sam Adams in here), Import Mega-breweries (Guinness, Paulaner, etc.), non-StL craft beers, StL craft beers. I'm leaning towards particular product (i.e. Schlafly Pumpkin Ale), not brewery (i.e. Schlafly).

The problem with things like cheese and beer is that most of us (or at least some of us) probably have limited experience, and you can't link a thread to it, or post a sample video or pic (like was done for the comedian tourney).

Re: Offseason Tourney
That's kinda why I structured it with a whole region of mega-breweries, which most people have probably had at some point or another. There's a risk there with nominating a really obscure microbrew, no matter how tasty it might be, because a lot of people have never tasted it.Socnorb11 wrote:The problem with things like cheese and beer is that most of us (or at least some of us) probably have limited experience, and you can't link a thread to it, or post a sample video or pic (like was done for the comedian tourney).
I would have no clue with cheeses myself.

I liked the best action hero idea. Hadn't heard that one before.
Maybe the ultimate "Who would win in a fight" tourney. Chuck Norris versus 50 kindergarteners. Alien versus a pod of killer whales. Whatever. The possibilities are endless.

This is a great option. Seeding and home-field advantage is critical. Killer whales are useless in a land battle. Penguins really struggle in air combat.Fat Strat wrote:Maybe the ultimate "Who would win in a fight" tourney. Chuck Norris versus 50 kindergarteners. Alien versus a pod of killer whales. Whatever.
