All I know is that I will always love Albert Pujols. He brought some historically exciting and great baseball to STL for 11 years and I will always be thankful. Anything that happens after the fact, whether he said it wasn't about the money and then it was, means nothing to me. I wish him the best in LAA and I perceive any of his subsequent comments to mean he's still trying to reconcile in his own mind his time spent here.

It seems to me that both parties should just realize that things aren't going to be okay for a while. Pujols needs to understand that even with all he's done on the field and off in St. Louis, he's not going to be well liked by Cardinals fans right now. Some of that hate is rational, some of it is not. But Albert seems to have the idea that he could go somewhere else while still being universally adored in St. Louis. That's not a reality, even though it will get better in time. On the other hand, Cards fans need to understand that Pujols going to LA is a symptom of professional baseball, and not some betrayal of his drafted team. It's possible to just be bummed that Pujols took the money without coming off as a jilted lover.

The memories I (and Cardinals fans everywhere) have of Albert are incredible, but when an iconic player separates from a team he's been with for 11 years, it's really not going to go down any other way. I can see how it might be difficult for Albert to be diplomatic when a lot of fans turned on him so quickly, but talking about "haters" and whatnot certainly isn't going to help. On the other hand, many of the fans need to reach the "acceptance" stage at this point. The Cardinals made a business decision that makes a lot of sense, and Albert did the same thing.

I won't be upset when reporters quit feeding these kinds of questions to him.

I see that it was mentioned in Strauss's article today that Pujols is now living with Lozano. hmmmm. Doesn't quite mesh with the uber-christian family man he portrays himself as. I wonder if Pujols partakes when the strippers and prostitutes come over?

Might explain the gnarly herps Pujols was sporting on his lip during the 2006 NLCS and into the World Series.

I dont know what you're talking about but if it was on his lip it was probably a cold sore...something that 10s of millions of people in world will experience at least once in their life.

On another note, I see your quote there on Pujols in your sig, and, of course he lied. Thing is, Presidents lie, Supreme Court Justices lie, military generals lie, mayors lie, children lie, priests/pastors lie, police officers lie....and all of those people and occupations are more prestigious than pro athelete. Yes he lied...like so many others in more important and higher positions than he has. People lie all the time, and a lot of those lies have really high costs. He's just an athlete. Of course that extra 3 or 4 million (which actually ads up to something like 30 million over the time of the contract) is going to mean a lot to him. And Ive lived in St. Louis my entire life...I was working at Busch when Big Mac hit his first home run as a Cardinal. Ive been to well over 3 hundred games in my life. I can say with absolute certainty that there is nothing about playin in front of Card fans or playing in STL that is worth leaving 10's of million of dollars on the table. Of course he was lying...I would have played it the same way he did.
