Yeah, I've been reading other peoples' reactions (to find about more about Thanos mostly), and found it on youtube. Pretty entertaining.

Re: movies
Avengers was really, really fun. Joss Whedon did a brilliant job balancing not just a huge cast, but characters that are beloved and need to be given the right balance of screen time with each other. I was really impressed with how he integrated all of them. Also, he did a really good job of making characters with huge back stories in the comic and movie world compelling even if like me, you had only seen a couple of the movies and never cracked a comic book in your life.

Re: movies
Agreed. I was not disappointed in the movie at all. It was interesting seeing how they portrayed the Hulk this time, since ultimately Marc Ruffalo was the third person to play him. Each time someone else plays him, they seem to completely change how the producers portray the character. And I will admit, I cracked up during the scene where he beat Loki like a rag doll.

Re: movies
General what-scenes-were-cool Avengers chatter, don't read if you're going to see the movie, cuz it's more fun to not expect 'em!)
I'm not sure I've ever gone to a movie where the crowd was louder - and that was a good thing for once. There were full-crowd cheers/clappings at least two dozen times. Full-on ovations for all the best moments described above. Totally enhanced the experience.

I let the wife pick a movie. She picked "The Lucky One". I thought it would be a rote, predictable, sappy romance. Tragically, I was right.

I let my gf pick a movie. She picked Hannah. Pretty entertaining, but the ending left something to be desired. Worth watching.

Pretty sure I'm waiting until Avengers comes to On Demand. Downey's Iron Man is great and I was shocked at how much fun Hemsworth was as Thor, but Hulk has been mostly a mess in movies, the other two are irrelevant, and Loki is a lousy villain. There's just not enough there for me.

So I haven't seen it yet, but from what I hear from those that have, Ruffalo's Hulk is outstanding. Might even be the best part of the movie.cpebbles wrote:Pretty sure I'm waiting until Avengers comes to On Demand. Also, the juxtaposition of the Tony Stark's irreverent Iron Man and [expletive] Captain America, evidently straight off the puritanical boat, is supposed to be entertaining.

Re: movies
ruffalo was good and i would say the hulk scenes got the most response from the audience i was in. i think the main reason is that hulk just can't carry a movie by himself. but when he's there for flashes of action, it works.
i thought it was a really really fun movie. it was done well.

Re: movies
They use the Hulk sparingly.
Avengers was great. I would see it again. I really enjoyed watching it and I'm not a comics guy. If this cast is the Dream Team, Robert Downey Jr is Michael Jordan though. That dude can deliver a great sarcastic line and look comfortable in front of a green screen doing it better than anyone. The Iron Man-Hulk relationship was fun, the Iron Man-Captain America relationship was fun and it was just a really entertaining how Joss Whedon gave every character a chance to shine and do what their character does best without exposing their weaknesses.
