And Slider wins the prognosticator award for this in yesterday's gameday thread

Slider is the controller of men and we should all be mad at him for hurting Garcia in the name of a self fulfilling prophesy!

I'm not against bringing up minor leaguers to fill in time. But as thin as both the bullpen and starters are now, I'd like to see them go get someone, just to give them some more depth.

I think that ship has sailed. Oswalt and Francis have both signed.

Not sure who else is available right now.

It could be done via trade also, but may have to wait until closer to the deadline for that.

It's a nice thought...but whom?

I don't see where there'd be much available in the market right now. Maybe someone with a better knowledge of the minors than I knows of Lance Lynn type or a team with a logjam of sorts at SP that's in the race and would be willing to deal a starter for the right the package - but I bet the price would be awfully steep.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Kelly or Dickson could do in the rotation before paying the price. Carp hasn't been set back as far as I know and maybe Jaime's recent troubles are from this shoulder discomfort. His lines, outside of a few starts, really haven't even looked that bad. They could both be back and good as new July 1. Who knows?

I wouldn't mind making a deal for a solid starting pitcher. Even when Carpenter comes back you have options. Garcia will probably be out for awhile. I wouldn't take any chances with a shoulder injury. Then, when Carp is back, he can push Westbrook aside. If you get another starter it gives you more time with Lynn and gives you the option of moving Wainwright or Lynn or even Garcia to the pen.

Adam to the bullpen at the first of August with 150 innings under his belt might not be such a bad thing. If he's throwing well toward the end of the season you can save some of those innings and stretch him back out in late September. Then he's back as a starter for the playoffs.... assuming we make it that far.

Garcia is going to see Dr. Andrews this weekend.

And yes, that is also a euphemism for pitcher doom.
