Yeah, but you're not really comparing things in that case. If both entities start at null, and the question is "what entity is liked better", you have to have values for entities. Null, by its very definition, has no value. You can't compare an entity with value against one with no value, it just isn't logical.
If one this is better or worse than the other, that other has to have a value, but you're trying to say the other has "no value". Sorry, but you can't do that.
last time, man.
The bolded part is NOT the issue. we aren't polling that. you aren't comparing entities. you are stating your level of liking.
which do you like better is not which IS better. we are polling which do you like better. It has nothing to do with actual goodness vs badness as far as bands go, it's more vs less. And there's a difference between the 2.
I've never said it was goodness vs badness, I've always used the qualifier "like" in every post I've made. Still, to like something more than something else, you have to value and compare each entity... there's just no getting around that part.
And to be sure, we ARE comparing entities... it's Band A versus Band B, not "please grade a band on a scale from 1-10". Sure, you can use a scale to judge the bands, but eventually, you HAVE to compare the two in order to vote.
You can like A, but you can't like A more than B, without B having a value. And in order for A and B to have a value, you have to have a basic knowledge of each. And that's what we're doing in this tourney - "Who do you like more?" is the question above ever poll.
