Looked up Jeffrey Loria n google and this blurb came back from Wikipedia:
The bolded part was gone by the time I loaded the article.Jeffrey H. Loria (born November 20, 1940[1]) is an art dealer, noted cheapskate, and the owner of the Miami Marlins.

It said earlier that he traded the Marlins to the Blue Jays on November 13, 2012. That has also since been removed.ghostrunner wrote:Looked up Jeffrey Loria n google and this blurb came back from Wikipedia:

Also, I wouldnt be happy with this trade if I was a fan of either team, actually. I do like it better for Miami though, if you remove the PR disaster aspect.

Publicly funded stadium deals need payroll policies or something. Maybe they could turn that thing into a swap meet/flea market?

To be honest we all killed the Marlins for signing a bunch of these players to contracts that far outweigh what they were going to produce. So in that sense they did good by getting out of those contracts and getting prospects back. Also there is no reason to tread water in mediocrity. Might as well be terrible for a while and grab a ton prospects and have the chance to be a dominant team that all hits their peak together. I mean a year ago everyone was killing the A's for trading a young, in-prime, fairly cheap Gio Gonzalez. Sure Gio had a great year, but the A's also got a lot of players that can help them now and in the future....
But of course this is Loria's team and really there is no reason to believe/trust this ownership to actually see this through. Its a decent baseball move/idea but those scumbags that run the Marlins will screw it up.

Holy crap, what a travesty. That big fancy stadium, and for what. Maybe a springsteen concert and 81 empty ass baseball games. so who gets Giancarlo?

Within 2 years Giancarlo Stanton will be on another team. If the Marlins weren't so incompetent they'd have a franchise player for the entire run of his career. But now they're going to have to trade him once he gets close to his walk year.

Source: Red Sox made a push for both Jose Reyes and Josh Johnson, but Jays just blew Marlins away.
What did Boston offer, Pokey Reese's used jock?

2013 AL manager of the year award goes to 2012 Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen.

Miami got some pretty decent prospects here.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Source: Red Sox made a push for both Jose Reyes and Josh Johnson, but Jays just blew Marlins away.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is awful for Toronto.
