Re: NHL lockout?
Are there any chances of a season? I really do feel bad for the true NHL fans. My brother and his family are huge fans, and it's really a shame.

Re: NHL lockout?
I missed it ... what is the news? What are they doing with ST holders money? If this works like other sports, they have their money. Are they refunding it, or are they just applying it to the next year?
What a bunch of crap.
What a bunch of crap.

Re: NHL lockout?
Season's not over yet, they can still hold more than 50% of the games. The NHL offered a new deal to the NHLPA last night that, for the first time, made some concessions. They've moved away from their "hill we will die on" language about contract terms and made some real (small, but real) movement towards the middle.
This week was when a lot of the hockey world thought something would get done. The media is focused on the World Junior Championships and the Spengler Cup (fans are desperate for anything); the labor dispute can make some movement in the background. I think it'll be done before NYE. Camp starts on the 2nd. Games start on the 14th with a 50 game season.

I love the positivity JOD, and I tried to remain that way for a long time. I have no confidence these greedy bastards (ALL of them) will get anything resolved to save the reason. Both parties couldn't give two [expletive] about the fans which is beyond frustrating.

We'll see. I am expecting the NHLPA counteroffer in a day or two, rejected by the NHL. Lots of handwringing and finger pointing, then a deal gets done. Some sticking points still exist in the new NHL offer ($60M year 2 salary cap will be rejected by players, too much salary will go into escrow) but there's so little between the two sides now I can't imagine there not being a deal.cardinalkarp wrote:I love the positivity JOD, and I tried to remain that way for a long time. Also, Patrick Kane did this to Cory Schneider two days ago:

Come on back, hockey.

Re: NHL lockout?
If you're right, Jack, I hope I can muster up some enthusiasm. I lost interest after the cancelled season and was just getting back into it lately, so maybe a 50 game season will work.
I hate it when millionaires squabble.
And it's not just hockey. After the baseball strike and cancelled '94 WS, I didn't get fully back into it until the Roid Boys arrived on the scene in '98.
