Apparently the man who died was his girlfriend's sister's boyfriend.

Yeah, this looks bad
A law enforcement official tells FOX 25 Hernandez appears to be directly tied to the homicide which is why authorities executed a search warrant at his home Tuesday night. According to the same source, Hernandez, Lloyd, and two other men were at a bar in Boston the night of the homicide, and at some point, the four men left together in a car driven by Hernandez which was confirmed by a text Lloyd sent another friend, the source says.

I'll never understand how someone with a $40 million contract even gets tangentially involved in stuff like this.

because he's a 24 year old with a $40 million dollar contract. And has been given the prima donna treatment at least since high school. That has to skew someone's judgement. Personally, I had a hard time with decision making at that age in life, even without all the wretched excess and warped perspective. And my poor decisions were more pedestrian.cardsfansince82 wrote:I'll never understand how someone with a $40 million contract even gets tangentially involved in stuff like this.

Re: NFL 2013 offseason thread
I did some dumb stuff at that age for sure. I can sort of understand the partying and drunk driving, even the sexual assaults to some extent. Above the law/invincible and all that. But to shoot a guy in public outside a strip club or be directly involved in a murder is just mind boggling to me. No matter who you are, that's not something that just disappears or that you can buy your way out of. Is it that difficult to remove someone from your life without killing them? Or even if your warped thinking has led to the conclusion they do need to be killed, that's something you pay someone else for. Why even have a posse if you are going to do all the dirt yourself? I can't say for sure what I would do if I had that much money and fame, but I'd like to think I would avoid the 25 to life type stuff.Freed Roger wrote:because he's a 24 year old with a $40 million dollar contract. I'm sure I'm taking this out of context but

Just saying I can see where someone in that position can have that thought process. Not that I condone it in any way.

I always had the opposite reaction. I figured if I'm a star and I can't get voluntary [expletive] then I should probably just jump off a building.cardsfansince82 wrote:Just saying I can see where someone in that position can have that thought process. Not that I condone it in any way.
Where it would seem to get complicated is when you care whether a chick is interested in you or being a star [expletive].

Well I would personally agree with all of that, but someone like Kobe or Big Ben probably had so much thrown their way that you get to a point where you feel like you can just take it anyway if she resists. The idea that someone might not want to have sex with them doesn't even register, and they feel like as a star they won't be held accountable anyway.lukethedrifter wrote:I always had the opposite reaction. The investigator, and other law enforcement sources, confirmed that the security system - which included video surveillance - was smashed intentionally.
And a cell phone used by Hernandez was handed over to investigators "in pieces'' by his attorneys, the sources said.
Police also want to know why a team of house cleaners were hired on Monday to scrub Hernandez's mansion
