He got away with some scary throws, but he looked great otherwise. It sure seems like he's going to be a monster in a year or two.

This is crazy. It's not like these are fluky wins against bad competition. They flat-out dominated both Georgia and Florida, and annihilated Vanderbilt. Two of those were on the road. I don't think even the 2007 team had two games in a row where they played this well against this quality of opponent.

First time beating ranked teams in consecutive weeks since 1973.

So they were #14 prior to this game, where do they end up when the next rankings come out?

Back then it was basically Chase and a couple other guys trying to pull an upset. These games don't even feel like upsets. When you watch the games, we are the bigger/faster/stronger team at a whole lot of positions. We used to not have much of a chance of running the ball on OU or Texas. But now we're doing it against quality SEC teams. The O line is winning the battle more often than not. And I think teams are legitimately intimidated by the size and speed of our WRs. I'm sure he doesn't have the "measurables" or whatever, but Michael Sam is playing like a first round pick right now. This team is probably still susceptible to a really physical rushing team like Alabama, but most of the SEC teams have transitioned away from that style anyway. As long as they stay healthy, there's only a couple teams in the entire country where you even feel overmatched. SC, Tenn, Ole Miss and aTm will still be very tough games, but as long as Mauk keeps playing well I think 10-2 or better is a great possibility.

I would guess 10 or 11, although they certainly have a case for being a spot or two higher than that.

Teams that'll definitely be ahead of Mizzou:

'Bama
Oregon
FSU
Ohio State

I imagine the U and Baylor will be as well. I wouldn't be shocked if one-loss Stanford is. Clemson got housed, so I think we'll be higher than them. No reason we shouldn't be above Louisville, LSU or Texas A&M. So I guess I have us at 8.

heh, you guys are pessimists. The only reason Mizzou isn't 4th is because of name(OSU, Miami in Coaches poll), and an opposing view on MOV v. SOS(Baylor in Coaches poll). Heck, if you prefer depth of schedule over a single big win, you could make the case for 3rd over FSU.

In any case, I'm still not sure how to process the whole situation. Mizzou is a home win from all but locking up the East before November, and they had yet another domino fall their way with Shaw getting hurt. I'm as big a Mizzou optimist as they come, and even I didn't see them in the driver's seat for a BCS bowl at this point.

As a loooong time Mizzou fan, I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron.

I didn't think Mizzou would jump Miami and Baylor, even though they should definitely be ahead of Miami. I also forgot that South Carolina lost and didn't really anticipate jumping Stanford or Clemson. I'm pleasantly surprised because Mizzou doesn't have the national name recognition and normally you wouldn't jump that many teams without a really big win, but I guess the combination of UGA/FLA was enough to get some attention.
