I think you both are giving Alabama too much credit. They're a good team, but they're not invincible. And, they're not as good as years past. I think they'd win, but I think it'd be a better game than Bama/OU. Maybe Clemson/OSU is a better matchup, but that would be because OSU isn't very good then. I still think they're a pretty good team.

In the final F+ rankings, Alabama is #2, Ohio St. is #5, Clemson is #15, and Oklahoma is #23.

Two factors at play with why I think Bama would spank them:

1. Bama being pissed about losing their NC bid in a fluke loss to Auburn.
2. It is half in tOSU's head that they can't beat a SEC team in a big game. Even with Meyer now. At this point it is like expecting the Cubs to win a pennant.

Talent wise, they are probably close.

The last time alabama lost to aubirn they went to the sugar bowl and lost to Utah iirc. The osu last played in the sugar bowl in tressels last year ane beat Arkansas. That was their last bowl game as a matter of fact.

Alabama would probably be favored over every team, including Auburn and FSU. If you eliminate those two teams and the Rose Bowl teams, Baylor probably has the best chance of beating Bama and OSU is not far behind. Neither team has a great chance, but the answer is not to give all three of those teams easier matchups instead. All three can finish with one loss and we really don't know any more about them than we do now.

I think folks on this board are intrigued (or whatever) by an Ohio State/Alabama matchup, simply because Ohio State is a Big Ten team, which is a conference that we follow somewhat in the Midwest.

The folks down south probably don't give two squirts about an Ohio State/Alabama matchup.

Never underestimate the desire of southerners to exert dominance over yankees, and Ohio St. is as yankee as it gets at the top of the college football food chain.

The last time Alabama lost to Auburn, they turned around and spanked Mich State 49-7. Bama has won their last 4 BCS bowl games by a combined score of 149-42. To be fair though, only one against a Big 10 team.
