I paid $22 at Binny's yesterday - it was on sale from $24. Larceny is $21, and Evan Williams 1783 is $18. I bought a $40 bottle once and I was disappointed. I have forgotten the name of it, it came in a cardboard tube and was recommended by the Binny's guy. Captain something. Sure wish I would have bought two bottles of something else instead.

I'll stick to this price point ... but then again my favorite *all around* beer is Budweiser so take my recommendations with grain of salt.

That's not bad. I paid $21 for a bottle of Old Forrester the other night and felt like I got jobbed...pretty sure I did.

This liquor store I go to sometimes...it's another rant. They have some of the best prices in town on beer. But, they are notorious for overcharging. It's one of those places that they just type in the price. So, if there is a sticker that says "Busch Light $18" you don't know if that is $18 for the 12 pack the 18 pack of the 30 pack. And, half the time they'll just type in $20 anyway, so you have to watch them.

That's an unreal price at Sam's, because I know at our local grocery store (Jewel) Larceny is $25 and Buffalo $28. At Binny's (do you all have these - mega chain ligour stores?) everything is a couple of bucks cheaper across the board. At an independent liquor store, it's usually higher than our grocery store.

We don't have any mega/chain liquor stores in Arkansas because, you know, it's a sin or something to drink on sunday so no liquor sales on Sunday. ALSO, grocery/warehouse type stores (I'm looking at you, Sams & Costco and WalMart and Kroger and Jewel) can't sell liquor. They can sell beer but no liquor. As such, we usually pay a premium for anything.

I thought so too. There was a sign reading "one time sale" so it could have been some overstock they were looking to offload or something. That price was the only reason I picked it up. I had seen all the GRB cool kids talking about how good it was so I figured it was a good time to give it a try.

I can't tell if we need to call in Stuart Smalley or if you've gone completely Buddha.
I think I've gone somewhat completely Buddha?

I don't know, I can see the value in 33's posts...I just think if he framed things better, he would prove a valuable member to the board. He's got a lot to offer, but the tone can be difficult to overcome. I dunno...I don't post too much anymore, and I've lost touch with a lot of the inside jokes here. So if I'm way off-base, feel free to ignore what I said. It was just something that I've noticed over time.

That's pretty good...usually hovers between $22 and $26 depending on where you buy.

Sorry but that's not right. I've been saying "drink what you want" and I'm still saying "drink what you want" and for some reason me pointing out that Templeton Rye is not what it claims to be--to the point that there's an actual, viable fraud case against them in courts--and that if you're buying it you're just buying marketing...that that is somehow elitism (when drinking Templeton, an overpriced luxury item, is what I'm saying maybe not to do, unless you like the taste, then, fine, whatever, go 'head on) on my part and caustic is rubbish.

Drink what you want, I don't care. But you should know what you're drinking because behind your purchasing decisions are implications to an industry that's overflowing with new entrants selling "their" "craft" bourbon.
