I've said it before and I'll say it again, if someone has bumper stickers on their cars avoid them. They are crazy.

for most of my adult life I've thought the 1s and 10s have more in common than the 3s and 6s. All forms of extremism needs to be reined in by moderates on both sides of the spectrum.

I don't do bumper stickers but I've seen them done well. First off you have to have dozens on your car, and there needs to be a non-political theme to them. Things like "Watch out for the idiot behind me". That sort of thing. And only on certain types of cars.

I think as you are alluding to the 3s and 6s don't realize each other exist. The 1s and 10s are all the media focuses on. I don't know how that gets fixed.

Same as conservatives, but here at work I rarely hear someone voice a strong conservative opinion.

Trust me, liberals suck too. Just as narrow minded, just as prone to ignore the truth to support their image as conservatives are. It's exactly equal in my book.
It's just that reality has that unfortunate liberal bias. I've never understood people who have apparently zero interest in politics at all. All you're saying is, "the (majority right-wing) people who've tried to turn people off politics so they can rip us all off uninterrupted have succeeded in my case".

It's not an equivalency. It's really not. Fox News is not the same as MSNBC. The Nazis are not the same as the Socialists. The problem is, from what you said, that I'm really not sure what this "truth" you're referring to is that "liberals" are ignoring in order to support their image. Can you provide any examples?

A few people have referenced all "extremism" as being bad. I'd call the banking crisis, and the gifting of billions of our dollars to lying crooks, as an extremist act. Why is something the other way to even the balance not okay? Why should we put up with our lives being slowly ruined by a political elite who cares not one jot for any of us, because being "extreme" in response is bad? I think people use those terms because they think they should - "yes, all extremism is bad sounds okay to me" without really understanding what they mean.

factcheck.org is a pretty good place to look for a fair account of stuff being said on both sides. I'm not keeping score, but there is a ton of crap on both sides.

I'm not going to discuss with you because it will go nowhere. Look forward to seeing you in baseball talk.

Bye.

I'd definitely argue the Fox News and MSNBC are just two sides of the same coin. Both of those stations operate in a black and white world, where as the world is very much gray. I personally can't stand either.

I have no doubt I'm one of the most liberal people here. I believe in socialized medicine, energy, and education. In America that makes me pretty crazy I guess. However the whole world doesn't need a left wing solution, only parts of it. There may very well be parts that far right wing solutions are the best, but the reality is we probably don't need to swing very far left or right on most issues.

Now I will say this, has Fox News done an amazing job of making people apathetic to the process while completely riling up it's base to a foaming at the mouth fervor? Oh yeah they have. They are the best at it. They certainly have played to peoples prejudices and ignorance well. There is no doubt they share a large part of the blame for why our country is toast. They did it all for their own personal gain too and in the name of God and country. It's scare really.

Still all the media is to blame. 24 hour news channels are garbage and it's hard to find any media with out some significant bias. As I've said before I don't know the answer. I think for me it's leaving when my immediate family has passed away. I'm not going to stay here in a place where it will only get worse and worse. We'll see though. I used to think I could become a part of it and maybe do some good in the world. At this point in my life I don't think that's true. We'll see.

I don't know where to post this but my wife is an RN and went to a Christmas party given by a coworker and after everyone drank a lot they did karaoke. Someone else picked the Wilson Pickett song "War (what is it good for?)"My wife sang along and today found out the hostess was "deeply offended." Wtf?

Maybe she's an Edwin Starr fan and didn't like Wilson Pickett getting the credit.

I guess I should have posted in music talk. Anyway one of the other nurses told her it was rude to disrespect the hostess's views in her own house. My wife had no idea this person liked wars or associated wars with her political point of view or would take personally anything by a bunch of drunk women singing karaoke. This society really is a big fail. Plus, isn't the hostess supposed to make the guests comfortable?
