Rad hasn't weighed in yet, but I can't believe I ever left (lived there for five years in the late 90's). The best thing about Denver IMO, is that most people are transplants from other states, so Denver is the anti-St. Louis regarding where you went to HS, etc.

I've only been to the airport and I think one restaurant before going to Breckenridge - but the whole area (but mostly Breckenridge) left an incredibly positive impression on me. Yeah, almost no similarity to STL.

They're not all that similar. I prefer the architecture and neighborhoods of St. Louis. Outside of the central part of Denver there is a definitely more of a suburban atmosphere out here. The ethnic makeup is very different - a smaller African-American community and larger Hispanic & Asian populations (yes some great spicy food goes along with that). Also a plus is having a mid-size city like Boulder close by - we live 7 miles from Boulder and 15 miles from Denver so there is easy access to both depending on what you're in the mood for.

Many transplants - just on our block we have folks from Texas, Louisiana, Philly, NJ, Boston, California, Seattle, Phoenix, Iran, Denmark, Sweden, Thailand, China (add St. Louis & Wisconsin for us). Only a couple of Colo natives. But to be fair, we live in a relatively new area which attracts newcomers. The only time I get asked where I went to high school is when I run into another STL native (which happens a lot when the Cards come to Coors).

Setting aside having the Rockies as your backyard, one of the biggest differences for me is the climate. Lots of sun and low humidity but we still get seasonal changes but no extremes. We'll get some big snowstorms but it all usually melts within a week. And even when it's hot in the summer, it's not muggy.

There's nothing like the atmosphere inside of Busch Stadium, but I really like the LoDo neighborhood surrounding Coors - a ton of food & drink options.

I think the Broncos are to Denver what the Cardinals are to St. Louis. (likewise, the Rams kinda equate to the Rockies.......... both are always going to be second-fiddle).
