I had Woodford last night at a NYE party and while at the time it tasted really good, the thought of it now makes me want to vomit.

Evan Williams 1783 is the best bourbon.

It's one of the best value bourbons, that's for sure. It's hard to beat at $15/bottle.

Better than Weller 7 year at, like, $22?

Four Roses is the best tasting bourbon I've ever had. And it's not even close. The thing is a drink in itself. I was gonna make an old fashioned last night.....but why? The thing is so good tasting. I had a couple tonight too. Just amazingly sweet and smooth really. Where's 33.33 to tell me why it's so damn good?

Okay, got a pic

It was $35, so not in the running for best value.

We use Four Roses for our rail. It's a fantastic value. Right up there with Evan Williams single barrel (although that's gone way up in price according to Drizly). I infused a bottle with duck fat a couple of months ago and it was really delicious, if not at least interesting.

Not better than Weller, no.

Problem is finding some Weller, which if you do find it you should snap it up. I was in Binny's two weeks ago and they had the WL Weller 12-year for $29.99, right there on the bottom shelf next to the Very Old Barton. I did a double-take....it's gotta be the Special Reserve and not the 12 year, right....?

Edit to add: Also, very funny, this pretty young woman is shopping for a bottle of bourbon for her boyfriend. The sales guy at Binny's is showing her all the $40-60 stuff because she told him that was her budget. She doesn't know what he likes, just that he likes bourbon. She's getting the pitch on all these newer microdistilleries making, don't get me wrong, fine booze but young booze and certainly not a $50 bottle IMO. Do I tell her, hey, you can buy him two WL Weller 12-Years for your budget and skip the local stuff with the fancy label? Or do I say nothing and let someone who will appreciate the Weller come buy it?
