College sports because of the recruiting are far more important than in professional sports, so I don't think it's even a fair comparison. Football has more organization needed - more X's and O's - so I would agree football is the most important. Think of it this way - what sport can a player play on one team on one day and get traded to another team the next day and just step on the field and play more or less at 100%? Baseball would be first on that list, football would probably be last, basketball/hockey/soccer between those two.

Football and basketball you can make the jump from college to pro and play at the major league level quicker then hockey and baseball. But as far as when you're an established major leaguer and getting traded midseason you can play the next day on a new team in baseball, hockey and basketball easier then football.
Football and basketball are sports where you need to learn technique and all that but it's more about your god given talents to run and jump while baseball everyone has to spend time in the minors before being major league ready. You need to learn the technique of the game before being ready for the big time since it's more about split second reflexes.
