Re: Rave: Enormous home theater setups
I have been trying to figure out a way to set one up but it's problematic....
The room is set up with a loft overlooking it. So, the ceiling is the height of the ceiling of the 2nd floor. Obviously, I'm not going to be hanging it from that....at least not easily. I looked at installing it on the wall of the staircase, but there is a fan in the way. So, it'd be off center doing that. There's another place behind the wall of the staircase that I could mount it, but it's rather inaccessible and require using a latter on a stairwell.
I think the best option would be to hang it from the ceiling with a little shelf. Have that shelf hold the router, cable box, and projector. Then, have a DVD player on the 2nd floor and run a wire up along the ceiling to the shelf so that the projector would be able to play DVDs as well. But, even doing that, I fear there is a problem with the height. The shelf would have to be built pretty low, I fear, in order to get the correct picture and would be an eyesore in the room.

How far back do you need to sit from the screen?
