Can we start by banning websites from posting tweets? I swear that's half of ESPN's page now. If I wanted to see what people are tweeting, I'd go to [expletive] Twitter. You know why I don't go to Twitter? Because I don't care to read people's [expletive] tweets.

The worst is when you're trying to keep updated on a game and the tweets reacting to what happens comes in before the game center updates.

I don't understand, if they increased the fee to the NBA from 500 million to 1 1/2 billion per year and are losing 8 million subscribers @ $80 per year = $640 million, how can firing a few annoying personalities who make, what, 20 million a year, save them?

The Emmys do, generally, a pretty poor job of recognizing the best television.

The ESPYs are pure, 100% marketing. And nothing else. Brand building only. They are the Skip Bayless of awards shows.

Yes, ESPY, not Emmy. Posted this to a friend's page, and I'm not trying to be too meta, but isn't it more courageous to give the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage to Jenner than to rubber-stamp a cancer patient?

Not to get too political or philosophical, but what Caitlyn Jenner did really take a lot of courage. There's a part of me that is still weirded out, and I can't help that though I try to understand. But, I can't imagine what kind of nerves it must take to just say you know what...f it. This is what I feel and this is what I want and ta hell with all the stigma and naysayers and all that. She has brought a lot of attention to the issue and handled it with grace and humility while helping millions of people humanize and understand what she is going/went through.

I agree. I feel like I'm a fairly open-minded guy, but I have growing to do here as well. I thought it was a very useful moment. She turned nothing into something.

Agreed with both of you. Whatever questions (concerns, problems, confusion... I'm not sure what the right word to use here is) I have about what she did are all on me. As someone who does struggle sometimes just to be myself, I think what she did is awesome.

Colin Cowherd is leaving, so ESPN Radio will immediately be more listenable than before. I'm sure it will make ESPN better too, but since I never watch it any more I won't notice. OTOH, Fox Sports will immediately get worse, since that seems to be where he's heading.

Simmons is going to host a weekly HBO show. I like the guy, but he's been pretty lousy on tv. Doesn't seem like the right move, but maybe it will work. His own bball show was a bit better than his work with ESPN's NBA stuff.
