Re: Cardinals hire Randy Flores as new Scouting Director
well Luhnow worked for us for 2 years as the Vice President of Baseball Development where he established a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic and extended the Cardinals' scouting in Venezuela, before he was promoted to the position and he oversaw the draft....so, that.Cheddar Tom wrote:What qualifications do you think Jeff Luhnow had?cardsfantx wrote:ooookkkkk....??

Luhnow oversaw his first draft with the Cardinals within the same calendar year he was hired.cardsfantx wrote:well Luhnow worked for us for 2 years as the Vice President of Baseball Development where he established a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic and extended the Cardinals' scouting in Venezuela, before he was promoted to the position and he oversaw the draft....so, that.

Flores is only 1 year older than Choate...If Choate goes down, Flores may pull a "Roger Dorn" and get Mo to activate himself

Maybe we're planning on tanking the next draft and need a pasty.

Luhnow, 45, has been a Vice President with the St Louis Cardinals since 2003
http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/26132934He has overseen the Cardinals amateur draft since 2005, and his drafts have been widely recognized as among the most productive across baseball. His first three drafts, from 2005-2007, have produced 24 Major League players, which is more than any other Major League team in that time frame.

Re: Cardinals hire Randy Flores as new Scouting Director
Everything I've ever read said Luhnow's first draft was in 2004. At any rate, he was not some established superstar when the Cardinals hired him. He began building the infrastructure for whats in place now. Flores is a former player, assistant coach and as of last year, started a scouting technology firm. He's not exactly a baseball novice.
