I am headed there with Mrs. Jack for a long weekend. Any hiking and brewpub recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

no personal experience with that part of Appalachia, but its on my list . I've heard good things about Pisgah national forest. Chimney Rock State Park is where some of the great scenery from "Last of the Mohicans" was filmed.

Went their as the 1st stop on my honeymoon. Beautiful town. We just went to Biltmore and drove around to a few lookout points. It was cold and rainy.

Re: Asheville, NC
Thanks for the suggestions. We'll be staying downtown, and can probably just walk to most of the food and drink. Thirsty Monk - and Salsa well within range.
breweries Wowsa - I'm looking at about a half-mile radius:
Burial Beer Co, Wicked Weed, Hi-Wire, GreenMan, Asheville Brewing Co, Twin Leaf, Foggy Mountain. Then a lot of bars and pour houses. My liver just exploded.
Biltmore - I'm sure it's cool, but not sure about taking the time for it (there 2 days). Will see if my wife is interested.
Will have more than enough to do/see - probably more interested in finding out overrated places to avoid.
How about Grove Park Inn?- for going to see and a drink?

Re: Asheville, NC
If you're driving from the West, take the "tail of the dragon", it's a long and winding road with amazing views. Also, nearby in Robbinsville, NC is the Joyce Kilmer Forest (The Fugitive movie fans will recognize the Dam). It's the mist difficult day hike I have done. If you fly into Asheville, it's too far east.Hungary Jack wrote:I am headed there with Mrs. Jack for a long weekend. Any hiking and brewpub recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
