My picky kid likes the place (sort of) - the cinnamon crunch bagels and turkey cheese sandwich is pushing the dining envelope for her. though in the month she has gone healthy eating (she has a sort of willpower, I don't know where she gets it), she'll even ditch the cinn crunch bagel.

Weird that the bread on a "Bread Co" sandwich is so bland. My wife recently got me one of these from there

worst rendition of the yaki soba noodle bowl ever. A while ago they tried making little flatbread pizzas , and sucked.

Top it off, the service set up, just isn't that good. people hovering in a crowded corner awaiting their order pickup. It's higher priced than fast food, but worse service than fast food.

I really don't like to rip on this place, I hope they can shake it up & make it tolerable for me. Since they are nearby, w/ local roots, and walkable - I want them to be good. And yea, I remember the good days when it was frequented by the early- adopter yoga pant clad hotties. someone do something.

OTOH - Kolache Factory rules. not a great place to hangout and eat. but those kolaches never disappoint.

Big macs are terrible. Double cheeseburger, otoh, are better than whoppers.

The best thing about mcds and bk is that they've realized they have to undercut all the burger shops (5 guys, in-n-out, shake shack, mooyah, etc) so they sell their double cheeseburgers for like $1.20. You can get 3 of them for under $4. Compared to 5 guys where a burger/fries costs about $9. 5 guys is better, but mcds is a better deal...imho. Their fancy burgers...never tried one though.

Lisa: Wait Dad! Good news, everyone! You don't have to eat meat! I've got enough gazpacho for everyone. [Crowd murmurs.] It's tomato soup, served ice cold! [Crowd laughs out loud.]

With the growing daughter, I want her to get more protein, iron etc in her body. When we are in a bind schedule-wise - I am trying to convince her to give the Mcdonald's cheeseburger another go. this article below says it really isn't a bad option. And with that iron will of hers, she'll drink water, apple etc instead of soda fries. She was disappointed to find out the shakes there are a nutritional disaster.

Red Lobster on the other hand ... a tried and true seafood extravaganza. Was here 20 years go, will be 20 years from now, because it's good food at a reasonable price and you don't necessarily have had to have taken a shower recently to enter or to even be looked down upon.
Our local Red Lobster shut down and was replaced by a Twin Peaks breastaraunt (eats, drinks, scenic views).

A guy I work with has a mousepad from Twin Peaks. It has cushy boobs that protrude to make a comfortable wrist wrest for your mouse hand.

I would totally eat a horse. Wouldn't bother me a bit. In fact I did, I ate raw donkey in France and it was good. And if you want to know what you get from a nice, family run, ma and pa place, look-y what I got for lunch one day:

Those are beard hairs. Pizza was delicious by the way.

Not sure which ones you all are going to, but I'm a fan of Panera. I don't know that I've ever had a bad experience there - the closest would be sometimes when I order online for pickup, by the time I get home sometimes my soup is cold. Other than that, no complaints.

And I've eaten at them in MO, IA, NY, SC, and MN.

Breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, elevenses, dinner, supper, whatever.
