Doesn't the bag of chips piss you off? I want to yell when I open the bag up and pour the chips out. God damn it.
And then I don't know what all that stuff is. Red rye rumple sour dough bull [expletive]. I have no idea what i'm getting.

I always go with the Pick 2, and get either French Onion or Tomato Bisque soup with the Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich. I keep it simple. Whatever the standard bread that it comes on. I've had other sandwiches, and they were usually good too. The Italian Combo or whatever it is is pretty tasty. Nothing too fancy.
I don't get chips - I always get the French baguette as the side, and use it for dipping into my soup.
I will admit that, like most other restaurants (whether fast food or sit down), once I find something I really like on a menu I tend to always get that. I rarely expand my horizons and try something new.

Sounds like you seek Panera out. swirls -seems like you know how to roll with things-so will overlook this transgression.
please just keep the french onion soup away from the nuclear reactor.

There's a Panera like 7 blocks from my place, next door to my gym. I've never been in a Panera though.
Should I try it?

Despite everyone else's opinion on this board, I'm a fan. For a nationwide chain "artisan" sandwich type shop, it's better in my opinion than a lot of the others. Being a nationwide chain you know there will be somewhat of a noticeable reduction in quality compared to some local mom & pop shop that is a staple in your area since it's been around for 100 years (of which every large city has one or three).33anda3rd wrote:There's a Panera like 7 blocks from my place, next door to my gym. I'd rather go there and pay $2 more per sandwich than go to Subway. I'd rather go there and pay $2 more for a breakfast sandwich than go to Starbucks.
For someone like me who seems like he moves around every year or two, it's nice to have an alternative to Chipotle for a fast restaurant that I know will be in the next town I move to, that is much more appealing than a greasy fast food chain.

3's will be fine because he has the food vocabulary for the place. I ordered this turkey sandwich once, and there was a bunch of other bull [expletive] listed that I didn't understand but I thought it was safe. I swear one of the ingredients was just ketchup. They didn't call it ketchup of course, some artisan farmer dried tomato blah blah damn thing but it was just ketchup. Ketchup and turkey don't mix. I took 2 bites - the second one just to make sure - and threw it away.
If I could figure out a sandwich that was safe I'd try it again - minus the artisan amish kettle baked in a stone oven potato chips. Don't order those, they will absolutely piss you off when you open the bag and four chips fall out of the bag onto your plate. You could set a camera up in there watching peoples faces as they put the bag up to the light trying to see what is causing the rest of the chips to be stuck in the bag.

The bacon turkey bravo is on tomato basil bread with special sauce, which is always thousand island. Not to rain on the classic and funny curmudgeonly obtuse jim parade, but you don't need any sort of a food vocab to read a Bread Co. menu. It's designed to sound impressive to people who don't have one.
If my other choice is a Starbucks or Subway, then I'll eat there, but that's rarely the case. I do have some love for the place as I spent a lot of time there in highschool. I remember being confused the first time I saw a Panera sign in another city in the St Louis Bread Co. font.

Me and my friend visited STL a couple months ago for a couple days so I could see my parents' new place. We drove by the Bread Co. on Chippewa and she just goes "That's the biggest [expletive] Panera rip-off I've ever seen."haltz wrote:If my other choice is a Starbucks or Subway, then I'll eat there, but that's rarely the case.
