steeplechasers and trail runners win the checks at obstacle course race.
https://www.warriordash.com/news/max-ki ... on-titles/
Max King {trail runner} repeated as winner at the Warrior Dash World Championship, held this year in Tennessee. 2008 Olympic steeplechaser Josh McAdams was second and–get this–former Weber State steeplechase (!) standout Bret Hales was third. The same pattern held in the women’s race as 2012 Olympic steeplechaser (!) Bridget Franek bested defending champion Kimber Mattox. Allison Morgan, like Mattox, a 2015 US mountain running team member, was fourth.

Lance winning this local CA trail race has spurned debate in the trail and ultra-running world.

Kind of weird that people would be opposed to him participating. There are a few making a living at it (sponsorship-small prize $) -but not a Lance sort of living. Lack of money in the realm is why Kenyans etc haven't swooped in yet to take it all.

Lance is past his prime for the big competitive events anyhow, and really doubtful he would bother doping for this. If he wants to dope to get the belt buckle or whatever, as others with much less chances/talent probably do already, -then knock yourself out Lance.

Cheating is counterintuitive for the level of events Lance would do. The mindset is selfish almost always about the activity/experience for yourself. If I ran for hours in the woods, and found out I bypassed a stretch of the course by mistake, that would bother me way more than the times I went off course and ran extra.

Participants in these events have always tended to be from the Island of Misfit Toys. Lance fits that. So those [expletive] should just shut up and smoke their weed.

Edit: I enjoyed this line in one of the counterpoints
People don't hate Lance because he cheated; they hate him because he's an [expletive]
and more-nsfw-bad words
[SHOW]
Ok, let's be honest. Lance Armstrong is a major [expletive]. He's a complete [expletive] dick. He's a world-class douche bag. I mean for [expletive]'s sake, he crashed his car while drunk driving and then made his girlfriend take the blame with the police. He's the kind of friend who would sleep with your wife while you're out of town on business and then drink all of the beer in your fridge (and not even bother to replace it). That's some cold-ass [expletive]. Like I said, major dick

there are speed golf competitions. From what I understand minutes + strokes = score.

kind of reminds me of the biathalon ski & shoot.
