Rant: The Current State of Amazon Customer Reviews
Amazon used to be a great place for customer reviews, but recently I've noticed the marketplace has become an epidemic of this:

Good rant. I used to rely on them as a pretty good barometer for quality. Now they're basically worthless.

It's definitely ruined the integrity of the reviews. Basically if I see a review with photos of the item it's a fake review.

Plus, now every time you buy something from amazon you get an email begging for a review, and a follow up email or two if you don't.

Can you rate and write an Amazon review of a product not purchase via Amazon?
I just tried it, but dosnt look like it took.
North face gloves that my wife gave me for Xmas don't work near as well as those one size fits all soft glove from Walgreens. Damn, my hands are cold from walking the dog and it's 33 out.

Since it shows verified purchase on some reviews that suggests that you can.

Re: Rant: The Current State of Amazon Customer Reviews
amazon reviews became meaningless when people started writing them to be funny and show up on buzzfeed's list of Top 300 most hilarious amazon reviews right now.
the schtick was pretty damn funny at first, but then it ran its course.

They set those at the top, right? I think you see them all the time but they don't make up a huge part of the sample.
