The pragmatism is out the window on this stuff.

Here's some collective pet peeves:
That smelly ass mulch. Why do you need a mountain of that stuff around trees? - if a tree can't survive without that pile of [expletive] around it, then that's nature's way.

Corporate office plex landscape crews - Glad for people to have jobs and try to improve the aesthetics of these [expletive] holes, but pipe down. Damn that [expletive] is loud. Noise like that should be reserved for constructing buildings, jackhammering roads etc.

private landscape cowboys - stop pretending you are some sort of bad ass blocking traffic on the street with your set up. I used to cut grass like you when I was 10. (I miss that gig though) and why do you need a riding lawnmower/blower/weedwacker and 3 people for a postage stamp size lawn.

developer geniuses that decided to plant Bradford pear trees or Sweet Gum Trees all over the place.

i am 100% behind this rant.

my favorite is when the landscapers for our office building park their trailers across 15 parking spots when there is already a shortage on parking spaces.

here's an idea, park your stupid [expletive] trailer down the hill and ride your dumb [expletive] monstrous lawnmowers up the hill

And the dumb [expletive] like to work early - before the dew is even dry on the grass. there goes the morning quiet.

For the past two years, my university has laid down mulch and fertilizer in April, and it smells like it's made from elephant dung. Then the ventilation systems in big buildings suck in the elephant dung odor and blast it all throughout the buildings so you can't escape it until you flee from campus.

It'll probably happen this year, just like clockwork.

Rant approved. My neighbor has a company come in and do his yard. I swear they use as much round up on his 1/4 acre yard as we do on 40 acres at the farm. One day they had a truck load of mulch, a whole freaking truck load. I'm not even sure where it all went but they put it somewhere. There is a creek that runs through our backyards and most of us let it grow up a little bit in brush and trees to keep it from eroding. Not this guy, the landscaping people went in there and spent two days with chain saws and various other attachments clear cutting it. Now it erodes terrible. It used to be maybe 4ft across and now it's easily 10ft there. Which is ok on their property but it's eroding back a bit and about to undercut a cottonwood tree on mine.

I have been enjoying the similarities between Bradford Pears (good looking trees for a while that split apart during the first heavy wind) and Sam Bradford.

Oh yeah, and the Walmart by us put up a ton of them to try to make the place look good. Stan Kroenke brought in Sam. eh ? Eh?

We lost some tree limbs in the last snowfall, so landscaping this year will consist of cleaning up that mess. Just hope the tree doesn't look like [expletive] once it fills in.
