They go great with the salad with the leprechauns in them. I could make a meal out of the bread and leprechaun peppers.

It was just announced that Old Standard is closing this weekend to make way for a new concept. I now feel that my belief the place was way overpriced for fried chicken when they first opened has been validated!!!

It did appear that their prices came down after awhile and were at least a little more reasonable but they just turned me off in the beginning with the prices combined with the name of all of the sides bothering me (all southern stereotypes) and the fact that they made a big deal about the expensive pressure fryer that they claimed nobody else used when KFC uses the same method but still manages to give you a bunch of chicken in a box with sides for $5. Just seemed out of touch with reality.

Expensive and bad is a not good combination. I have thought about trying them this week just because I go by there just about every day and have never stopped. More to justify my objection to them even further than anything else. Might as well be a jerk about it!

I am l not a big fried chicken fan. i like it ok, but liked it more on account of it being something the kid liked while making it seem we were dining out.

Had a few good times eating the chicken at Old Standard because it fit that bill.that was before she started in being vegetarian and serious about eating healthy(she is 80% serious about this, 20% following trend).

Glad they are keeping that space going as a dining facility. I like that aspect of Old Standard-the space. And I did like it better than Gus's in Maplewood,(white bread-save it for the pigeons) and way better than Porters. Admittedly, i am not majorly price sensitive at this level of dining.

My version of fine dining last night was the patio at Tower Pub with Imo's pizza that I picked up across the street and beef jerky from the bar. One of the better meals I've had in awhile.

I'm only kind of joking actually. The reason I enjoyed it so much wasn't the pizza or jerky, it was the company.

I'm too lazy too go look for any of the other food threads. Any non fine dining suggestions for a pregame meal? Either coming in from the west on 44 or downtown. I'm not really in the mood for Pappy's this time.
