jehovahs witnesses keep coming to my house. I keep telling them, no time. they want to come back when I have time.

If only somebody could have saved my two coworkers like this board was saved. We've known it was coming for awhile but two of my group were laid off and today was their last day. There were only four of me in my old group. Stinks. Now there are 9 of us in my group including my boss. 3 in Temecula, CA and 3 in Billerica, MA and then I'm in St. Louis while the other two are in Italy and Germany. I guess I won't be having many group lunches for awhile! The other member of my old group, our boss, is in the same boat. His boss reports to the same person as mine and we will work closely together still but he's the only one in St. Louis too. Out of the 30 people that report to the head of our area we are the only 2 in St. Louis.
However I have a spot in the combined organization (we got bought late last year) and am safe. Suffering a little survivor's guilt. The longest either of them had been here was 3 years so they weren't in line for that much of a severance package. However I've been here 19 years and would have gotten 11 months of pay (the cap) to go away. They tried like heck to find a spot. I put in ZERO effort.
Thankfully one starts a new job after she gets back from vacation (leaves this weekend) and the new job pays more. The other has a couple of things in the works and one should hopefully pan out in the next week or so it looks like and he may have more than that one option. So they're both in good spirits and might actually come out of this ahead.
