I really enjoyed working for a German company (ZF). Really if it was anywhere other than Michigan I would have stayed with them (they were starting to pitch the idea to me of moving to Tokyo for a few years, but the Mrs. was not on board with that). Anyway, the idea was simple, get your [expletive] done, and do what is necessary to get the job done. That meant occasionally coming in at 4am to have conference calls with the Japanese and Korean offices, and sometimes staying as late as 9pm for similar reasons, or having to come in on Saturdays and Sundays to help finish testing for a product that's launching... but as long as you're not needed, it's fine to roll in early, cut out at lunch for whatever you might have going on, or even taking a 2 hour lunch and having beer. It was a give and take relationship.
Treat me like an adult and I'll be much more inclined to put in more time and effort to complete the task.

Re: Attendance Policies
It goes off your record after one full year of that occurrence occurring.cardsfansince82 wrote:That sounds kinda complicated...and harsh. Does it reset to zero each year?UK wrote:No fault system.
2 points 1st day
1 point 2nd day
1/2 point if you're late or leave early, 1 point if you leave early or late if you're over 4 points.
7 points = verbal warning
10 points = written warning
13 points = suspension
15 points = termination
If you're out for more than two days, need a doctor's note and would suggest filing for FMLA.
