I have a seven item checklist memorized that I run through every time I leave the house, but I've also spent twenty minutes tearing the house apart for something that was in my hand the entire time.

One of my friends had this welcome mat at his apartment, which I found brilliant.

But shouldn't it be facing into the house so you can read it as you leave?

I pat myself down multiple times for keys, cellphone and wallet every time I leave the apartment. Once before walking out of my apartment. Again before going out of the building and then again when I get to the street before actually heading somewhere. About half the time I have to run back upstairs to get something I forgot. Unless it was my keys and then I have to wait for somebody else to open the front door and let me in.

On the same lines as the phone to the ear, I once searched nearly an hour for my glasses only to eventually realize that I could actually see because I was wearing them.
