I don't think the issue is his collarbone, it's his KHL contract and his KHL team not letting him out of it.cardinalkarp wrote:That's what my wife told me.Secret Weapon wrote:Where did you hear that? Last I heard was he hurt his shoulder, but was just day to day. Though his return was in doubt due to his contract status.
I also think Patrik Berglund is a better player than Sobotka. So Berglund taking Sobotka's third line center role is an upgrade to me. THe team will only really miss SObotka if we have a major long-term injury down the middle of the lineup.

My bad, Sobotka is definitely still playing in the WC....but it still sounds like he won't be coming over to the NHL. Supposedly, the KHL is causing some problems w/ his transfer back to the NHL and he said it's been a 5 month ordeal that is ongoing and he's sick of dealing w/ it.
Honestly, the Blues should just cut ties w/ him IMO...he's becoming more trouble than he's worth and doesn't sound like he's got a very good attitude.

Steen signed an extension (and seems to be taking a small pay cut with it...

Alexander Steen has agreed to a four-year, $23 million contract extension with the St. Louis Blues.
Steen still has one season left on his three-year, $17.4 million deal, so the Blues have secured him through 2020-21 with this new contract. With this deal Steen is taking a relatively minor annual pay cut of $50,000. "St. Louis has become home. I've been here eight years," Steen said. "I've gotten to know a lot of people within hockey and outside hockey here. We seem to be spending less and less time in Sweden to make sure we get our time in here as well. It's been an incredible journey and St. Louis is definitely somewhere I see as home now." He had 17 goals, 35 points, and 52 penalty minutes in 67 contests last season. He's currently recovering from a shoulder injury, but is expected to be fine for the season opener.

I love Steen, but I'm not sure how much I'll love him four years from now. I really hope I'm wrong on that.

Sobotka going back to Russia. Couldn't get out of his KHL contract.
