Let's say 4/60 is the top end of what they want to give up for Fowler and he doesn't really want to play here so that isn't going to get it done. They made their interest public so that he'd know they want him and the fans would know that they are trying.

Mike Leake provides a cautionary tale, not a blueprint for success.

I strongly suggest you try actually reading my posts for what they say instead of what you want to think they say because you want to keep arguing your soapbox point.

Here, I'll make it easy for you:
If he doesn't take that and signs for less somewhere else then that's one thing. Can't do anything about that.
How does that imply that I refuse to believe that Fowler may not want to play here? It sure seems like that's exactly what I'm saying. If he doesn't want to play here, then all we can do to entice him to change his mind is offer more money. If that doesn't work, all we can do is move on.

Also, WTF has Mo been so deadset on acquiring a CF? I really don't get it.

I hope 4/60 was just the starting point and not the top end. That's a pretty trash offer.

Right on. Sign Batutista and Emcarnacion and let's mash

Steamer projects 2.5 WAR. It's about right. They aren't in a great position on the win curve to do a whole lot more than that.

I agree with Crowes on that one. You don't arrange your roster and move players around just so you can offer Fowler a discounted offer and hope he'll bite.

2.5 WAR is worth $20M per and climbing.

Give it a .5 WAR discount every year for aging and you're at 7 * $8M = $56M

Yup. I brought that up yesterday in some thread.
