I said I'd go 4/84. I think he's a safe bet for 10 wins the next four years. If he opts out, good. If not he won't be more of an albatross than Holliday last year that still allowed them to aggressively pursue Price and Heyward. Good deal.

Now focus on the real defensive issue. Third base.

Wait, I thought Mo wasn't capable and Fowler hated Matheny. I'm sure some hate being wrong.

Last year the average 3-hitter batted .277/.351/.476/.826
Matt Carpenter over the last 2 years has hit .271/.372/.505/.877

So better in getting on base and power than the average 3-hitter.
I don't think those are carpenter's numbers when he's batting 3rd, which is what he's saying.

Carp seems to have some mental thing where he only hits well in the leadoff spot. Of course he's never left in other spots long enough to see for sure.
I'd like to see Marp batting second.

Me too. I want him and fowler batting back to back.

Yeah. Piscotty 3rd, unless we sign someone else.

Any interest in Bautista or Encarnacion?

Did someone said he hated Matheny or that he didn't want to play with Matheny PER reports?

And maybe he doesn't want to play for Matheny, but money talks.

Marp like to look at a lot of pitches, so that would give Fowler a chance to run.

Or maybe the whole thing was BS?
