That alone is worth it. It drove me insane last year how bad some of the ABs were.

Piscotty has the ability to walk more than 8% of the time. I think that's where we will see his largest improvement. I think he will develop into a 10-12% BB rate guy.

Honestly, I think even with Fowler and then Turner (or whatever fat American League DH/1B some of you guys think the Cardinals should sign), you're still a clear step behind the Cubs. It closes the gap, without a doubt, but... yeah. It's a big gap.go birds wrote:I guess that's just one of my biggest issue with the organization. "contending" seems to be their goal. Which is fine, dont get me wrong. but we have an opportunity to put the lineup over the top.
That said, it would also make you a virtual lock for the Wild Card. And just because you can't close the gap doesn't mean you shouldn't improve where you can. Which is all my long-winded way of saying that I'm all in for Turner. But just be aware that Turner and Fowler aren't going to put them on par with the Cubs right now.

I see Fowler as a half measure. Sure, it keeps them in the realm of being able to make the playoffs but it isn't all that can be done. And, we all know how half measures work out...people die.JL21 wrote:Honestly, I think even with Fowler and then Turner (or whatever fat American League DH/1B some of you guys think the Cardinals should sign), you're still a clear step behind the Cubs. Who is the rival?!
The Cardinals allowed 712 runs last season while having one of the top 5 or 6 FIPs, if I remember right. With the addition of Lance Lynn, improvements from Wainwright, Martinez and Leake, a better bullpen and a better defense, is it realistic that they could shave 75-100 runs off that total?

If they don't want to go Turner (and that's my preferred move), then go get me Dyson as a 4th OFer.
After that, I don't really care what they do.

I don't know why but Dyson doesn't do much for me. I want to see Bader up with the big club next year.JL21 wrote:If they don't want to go Turner (and that's my preferred move), then go get me Dyson as a 4th OFer.

It almost doesn't make sense to only sign Fowler. The pick is gone, money's there and this only gets the Cardinals partially where they need to be.People that are calling for Turner or Encarnacion are going to be disappointed. Look at how much they are taking about how out of their comfort zone Fowler was. You think they're going to sign two top 5 FA in one off season? I would be super surprised.
