So, reports are saying the White Sox were outbid but he went with the White Sox instead.
That changes my perspective

As an organization there needs to an autopsy to figure wtf is going on when you can be highest bidder and still lose someone to the white sox

Huh? Either he really, really hates St Louis, or there's something we're not being told. I don't believe a video will get someone to accept less money.Magneto2.0 wrote:So, reports are saying the White Sox were outbid but he went with the White Sox instead.

It could potentially. Depends on how much (and obviously, if it's true).Magneto2.0 wrote:So, reports are saying the White Sox were outbid but he went with the White Sox instead.

Yeah I'm really confused now. And yeah I'm not buying a video package is what won him over. There's something that's missing.Famous Mortimer wrote:Huh? I feel like players use that kind of line as a platitude, especially with St Louis. I dunno whether it's in case they get stuck playing with the Cards later on or what.Magneto2.0 wrote:So, reports are saying the White Sox were outbid but he went with the White Sox instead.

Either way, it's disappointing to lose out on a potentially good player to a team that has shown it has no ability to contend. Must have been some video pitch.

I just struggle with this idea that if he signed for less, it was a lot less. I've seen 25-28 million thrown around. Let's operate on the high end for this thought experiment. It's feasible to me he'd reject 30 million from STL to take 28 from Chicago. It's not feasible IMO he'd reject 35.
