I bought a truck on an online auction for a fraction of its book value. Needed some mechanical work but I've got it cleaned up and running for about 25% of book value. Anyhow the DMV wouldn't let me liscense it without a signed bill of sale because I said I bought it so much below book. I had a bill of sale but it's not signed, they want a fax from the seller who doesn't have a way to send a fax. The title has the purchase price on it and is signed and notorized but that won't work. I'm hoping I don't have to make a 5 hour, one way, trip to get this signed, all because of a fax.
I gotta think places like Kinko's that let you pay to print by the page would also let you pay to use their fax machine for a reasonable amount per page.
He doesn't want to go out of his way to do it. I'm going to try a different DMV office before I try anything else. From what she said I don't think it's a state policy but an office one. Makes a lbout a $1500 difference in the sales tax.
