Kids are getting paid dick.50 an hour out of college. A new report says 20 percent less than previous generations. This has been blamed on the recession and has led to greater debt among millenials, meaning the big banks are winning. They got to trim some fat, and now they're getting all this interest. If you're not Lehman, this all probably worth Dodd Frank.

My place of employment just let 80 people go today. No guarantees long-term.

My company managed to weather the great recession well. I don't think there were any layoffs directly related to the poor economy, but there wasn't much hiring to replace natural attrition.

2016 is not going so well. We work a lot for mining and fuels industries, and they're hurting. They laid off 25 (out of 800+ employees) this week. 30-40 more could be encouraged to look for a new job if their workloads don't pick up. Year-end bonuses (if they happen) will almost surely be a lot smaller this year unless things change quickly. Not too afraid of losing my job, but not counting on a bonus in December or a raise in January.

The company that I worked for for 28 years (steel industry, specializing in valves for the oil & nuclear industry) moved all of our work to Mexico in March. 400+ jobs in Iowa........... *poof*. They offered me a bucketload of money to go to Mexico for a year to help with the transition. I told them to kick rocks. Fortunately, I landed a gig in the Wind Energy industry, which I'm really enjoying.

The median U.S. worker is enjoying their highest wage growth since 2009, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's wage growth tracker.

This metric showed that the median employee saw pay rise 3.4 percent year-over-year as of April, setting a new record for this expansion.
"While the effect described above is usually not a big deal, when labor force flows are very large, there can be an effect," writes Bespoke. "For instance, as a percentage of employment, the number of workers who moved from not in the labor force to employed or from employed to not in the labor force in the last 12 months was in the 98.7th percentile since 1990; in other words, very high."

A look at the sub-indexes shows that the good news doesn't stop there: American income inequality is also being reduced in the process.
In a note to clients, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. economist David Mericle suggested that the good times for lower-income Americans have only just dawned. "Both the official data and our tool for tracking income growth across the earnings distribution indicate that wage growth has been stronger for low-income workers recently," he wrote. "As staggered minimum wage hikes affect a growing number of workers, low-income workers are likely to continue to see somewhat firmer wage growth in coming years."
