is it true the second season was bad?
I've been meaning to catch up on it, but wasn't sure if it was worth my time.

It wasn't as good as season 1, and the show is definitely one of those where you have to be along for the ride and surrender to it's eccentricities. If you watch the first episode and you like it, you'll be in. If you don't, you should probably not waste your time.

Season 2 was a slow burn that just gave you more questions and no answers for half the season. The second half of the second season picked up a bit but it felt like the show was trying to be too clever for its own good.

I just can't fathom why we aren't talking about Last Chance U here.

I just flew through it after seeing it on Amazon as well. I really liked it, not really something to casually watch though, gotta pay attention to it.Michael wrote:I noticed Mr. Robot is on amazon streaming and it looks kind of interesting. Any opinions on this show?

It's heavy and intense, but it's unlike anything that's on right now because of the show's perspective. (If you've seen the 1st season, you know what I mean.) I've recommended it to a few people, but I can only ever describe it as "intense". As a guy with a passing interest in computers and finance, I think you might really dig it.Michael wrote:I noticed Mr. Robot is on amazon streaming and it looks kind of interesting. I also agree with thrill's assessment about the 1st episode, but might expand it to episode 2 or 3. But if you're not in at that point, punt.
I've got to finish up season 2. I'm about halfway through, and without giving anything away, Craig Robinson does a great job of playing a very serious character.

We enjoy The Middle as a cute, family comedy. They've had a good run, and while TV needs a show like this (IMO), it's time for this one to end. It's run its course, and it did it well. The cast will enjoy their syndication checks from ABC Family for years to come.MrCrowesGarden wrote:tlombard wrote:I just discovered The Middle a month or so ago because I'm generally late to everything. Not the best show but not bad either. I just can't think of Neil Flynn (is that right?) as anything other than the Janitor from Scrubs but it was nice to discover Eden Sher. I like her.
And this next season is their last.
I love The Middle (and Eden Sher, she's really the standout IMO). Heard about next season being the last today too. Might've been an underappreciated show but it still will have run nine seasons when all is said and done. To make it that long while still being not extremely highly thought of is something of an accomplishment. I suppose it was ABC's second most prominent sitcom next to Modern Family, maybe third since the rise of Black-ish.
