Re: The Video Game Thread
I was all excited about playing Tiger Woods 2009 on the PS2 when I got home last night... and now my PS2 isn't working. It was working fine about five or six months ago when I watched a movie on it but it won't read a single disc now. Ugh.
Thankfully my attention span has already moved on from video games to going to a few Cards games this weekend and maybe seeing if I can find somebody to play golf.

If any of you are Diablo fans Path of Exile is now on Xbox and is free to play. Played about an hour last night, really enjoyed it.

Over the weekend I replayed the Halo Reach campaign. It's the best FPS campaign I've ever played.

Not really a 'video game' but I have no become hooked on World of Empires on the iPad. The only game I really played on the XBox was Civilization Revolutions. They have a version for both Android and iPad but they want $10 for it which I'm not going to pay so I did a little searching and found this one for free. Same basic concept and game play. It kept me occupied for five hours last night playing nonstop. Plus you don't have to have a network connection so it isn't eating up the battery or data like every other game. No ads even. I think you can watch ads for free gold but you don't have to which is refreshing for a mobile game.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I finally found a Nintendo Switch on Friday at Game Stop. They didn't have a very great selection of games on display so I only bought Mario Kart at the time. Pretty fun game and I have to admit that the Switch is probably perfect for me. It works really well as a portable system and sliding it into the dock and playing games on your TV is simple as be and works great too. It helps that I'm not really into the latest and greatest first person shooters or whatever that you have to have an XBox or PS system to play. Heck, I spent two hours racing the Excitebike stadium course over and over on MarioKart 8 yesterday and it is probably the simplest of all of the courses on there visually and obstacle wise... but it's just like an old Excitebike course and I love it.

The titanfall 2 single player campaign is one of the best FPS campaigns ever made. It's only like 7 hours, but swimming with interesting ideas and fun gameplay. You can find the game for fairly cheap so the short length shouldn't scare you too much.

It isn't available on the Switch as far as I know so that doesn't help me yet! The thing that has me most excited about the Switch is that I've heard that I should be able to play classic Nintendo games through a virtual console soon (or however) and the new Mario. I watched a trailer for that game and that really looks interesting. When I picked up the Switch, the guy said he got to try it out a couple of weeks ago and was raving about it. That doesn't come out until next month if I remember correctly so I've got some waiting to do. Hopefully I can make the time to pick up another game tonight. I just need to figure out what I want and where is the best place to get it. I also need to return the joycon charging grip I bought Friday. I didn't realize that there was already a joycon grip included with the game and I don't need the charging one. That will just about pay for a new game itself anyway.

If you have the original Wii (otherwise, there's probably a stack of them at Goodwill), you can hack it pretty easily to play NES, SNES, Genesis, GameBoy and probably a bunch of other stuff for the price of an SD card. My son and I are having fun going through the Mario catalog. This is likely possible on PS and XBox too, but I wouldn't know.tlombard wrote:It isn't available on the Switch as far as I know so that doesn't help me yet!
