#STLCards, Scott Boras have numerous reasons to be in touch: Boras clients Eric Hosmer
Cardinals have capacity to add payroll where warranted.

Seriously, of all the things they could do, Hosmer would be the dumbest. I could be talked into Moustakas (still not a fan but I could see it) but Hosmer would just be stupid.

Yeah, and not only that, but a lot of teams are drawing from the same information pool thanks to stuff like MLB Advanced Media. And probably other avenues we don't know about. It creates overlap specifically in what info the teams have.

And then, as you say, it ends up being 30 teams who each value players pretty much the same way. Even 10 years ago, or 5, all it took was one team to be stupid team who valued guys differently and it would help move the market along. But that doesn't happen nearly as much now.
This is something I was thinking about when they did the Ozuna trade. Clubs don't melt down like that very often and to be in a position to capitalize was nice.

There's nothing dumb about adding Hosmer.

Sign Hosmer, include Carpenter in a package for Donaldson?

I know that people say Morosi is a Boras sock puppet (and it's probably true to a degree), but he said on MLB Network Radio that it really does sound like Plan A is Donaldson, Plan B is Hosmer for the Cardinals.

Good. I hope we get one.

We are a better team with either add, I don't see the downside.

The downside (for Donaldson anyway) is that the Blue Jays have specifically said that they don't want to trade him, so it's going to take a ridiculous offer to get them to budge.

Yeah, I should've been more specific. There's no downside unless we give up Reyes. Then we're left without a potential ace. Anyone else, I don't care who we give up for him. As for Hosmer, the money doesn't really concern me. If we can't get Donaldson, get Hosmer. He's projected for another 3 win season. That would probably put us over the top for a playoff birth.
