I don't like it. Don't need two Gyorkos. I think you could get Frazier for less money if you wanted bench insurance. But Gyorko was always supposed to be that anyways. Looks like Donaldson or pour money into a pitcher and roll with Gyorko.

I'm really not sure. I could see borderline guys like Moustakas seeking a higher AAV for a one-year deal right now, because they don't want to be competing with the better class of FA's next winter for a longer term deal.

I think on a one-year, you're looking at $15+MM at the least. If you went 2-3 years, maybe you could get the AAV down to $14MM or less.

I think it’s a little more than that. Carlos Santana got 3/60... it might be a little less than that, but I think that’s close.

Santana also has a better track record than Moose, and the mere fact that he's already signed indicates that at least one team valued him at that 3/60 level. The longer the remaining FA's stay out there, the more likely it is they are not going to see that same value.

I may be a little light, but I don't think Moose will sniff $20MM AAV. There just aren't that many teams that view him as an upgrade over their current 3B situation. Especially when Frazier is also still out there, and a pretty similar player.

This recent fangraphs article doesn't really come to any amazing conclusions, but suggests that Moose may settle in the Bruce/Cozart zone around 3/40. That seems a bit low to me, but could be right with the limited market.

I’ve never been much of a fan of them signing him but if it gets to the point that they can give him 15 mil for one year I’d be fine with it.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, "Eric Hosmer's camp has continued pushing for" a contract of more than seven years.
Hosmer has a couple of seven-year offers on the table -- one from the Padres reportedly worth around $140 million and one from the Royals that is said to be worth $147 million -- but the 28-year-old free agent and his representatives are hoping a club will ultimately reach a little higher. Morosi notes that the Royals' capacity to pay Hosmer increased somewhat with Monday's trade of Brandon Moss. Hosmer posted a career-best .318/.385/.498 batting line with 25 home runs and 94 RBI over 162 games for Kansas City in 2017.

8 [expletive] years for Eric [expletive] Hosmer? Get the [expletive] out of here. Count your blessings that the Padres and Royals are stupid enough to do 7.

7 years at $140 mil for Hosmer?

Yeah, teams are colluding to keep these guys from getting paid.
