Braves maybe.
Cardinals if committed to this depth over stars thing could sign Moose or Neil Walker and have a 2-3 win player everywhere on the infield, and they’d be able to give a guy off every 5th day without having to play Greg Garcia.

Isn't that kinda the plan they have now, just with Martinez at 1B and Carpenter filling in elsewhere on the infield? You can(and I would) argue about whether Martinez qualifies as a player of that quality and/or if Carpenter is playable away from 1B, but you can at least see the intent.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Braves maybe.

Maybe, but this also bumps Garcia off the roster. And I’d be pretty uncertain about the roster (more uncertain) if a starting infielder got hurtTransmogrified Tiger wrote:Isn't that kinda the plan they have now, just with Martinez at 1B and Carpenter filling in elsewhere on the infield? if Archer gets traded to anybody but the Cards at this point I'm getting livid. We need to make it happen.

I'm sure there's a thread somewhere on here (that I'm just not aware of) that talks about hypothetical Archer trades*, but I would give up Weaver & Bader for Archer in a heartbeat. I just don't know if that, plus the salary relief of unloading Archer, would be enough to persuade the Rays.MinorLeagueGuy wrote:if Archer gets traded to anybody but the Cards at this point I'm getting livid. *please direct me to that thread, if it exists

They're tanking so hard, they should be renamed the Tampa Bay Third Army.

Archer's salary isn't cost prohibitive by any means, so it probably would take a lot to move him.mikechamp wrote:I'm sure there's a thread somewhere on here (that I'm just not aware of) that talks about hypothetical Archer trades*, but I would give up Weaver & Bader for Archer in a heartbeat. I still would like to see the Cardinals do it.
