Playing all 82 games this year at age 33 and single-handedly dragging this team to the Finals was every bit as impressive to me. They only won that ring v the Dubs b/c Curry was hurt.Socnorb11 wrote:Aside from all of your static here, would you agree, or not, that Lebron's most memorable achievement as a player was winning a championship in Cleveland?

Pelicans should be calling the Wizards right about now to use their Quincy Pondexter trade exception. Oubre or Satoransky would help out this team.

I don't disagree, but I wasn't asking about most impressive. I was asking about most memorable, when it's all said and done.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
One thing that's very much worth keeping in mind here while we're bemoaning the Dubs and Boogie is that literally no other team shot him an offer. He hit free agency without a suitor.
The Blazers could have renounced Nurk and offered Boogie 5 million, yes? The Net, Knicks, Utah, and a half dozen other teams all have cap room to offer Boogie a one-year get-right deal for $15 million or so. And none of them did.

The Pelicans offered him 2 years, $40 million after the injury but before the season ended. He rejected it and New Orleans took it off the table.
Also there's this which you can take how you want:

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
Most meaningful NBA free agent deals are done within 24 hours of the window opening. Teams have already talked to agents and there's some clarity on what both sides want to get done. The free agency window opens and right at 12:01AM the news goes bang bang bang as signings are announced. Free agency opened and less than 24 hours later Randle had been renounced by the Lakers and signed by the Pels. That's an indication that they were more serious about getting Randle done than bringing Boogie back. They might be giving lip service to the press and the fans, and thankful to Boogie and his camp for his time in New Orleans publicly, but their actions say that they were a lot more interested in signing Randle than keeping Boogie.
Randle only cost 2 years and $18 million. I'd love to know if they offered Boogie that and he told them no.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
it's possible, but I also think this timeline is possible:
1) Pelicans make initial offer to Boogie, he feels insulted
2) Boogie reaches out to the Celtics and Warriors and cuts off contact with the Pelicans
3) AD sees the writing on the wall wrt Boogie and recruits Randle
None of this is to say I'm upset that Randle is here because I'm not. I just don't buy that they weren't interested in Boogie.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
What is the Pels original offer that insults Boogie enough that he takes a one year deal for the midlevel exception maximum? When do they make that offer? How does AD recruit Randle in that time frame so that Randle goes to the Lakers and asks them to renounce him, the Lakers renounce him, the Lakers negotiate with and sign Rondo, and the Pels then negotiate with and sign Randle?

I mean we've established according to Marc Stein that the Pelicans offered a two-year contract for $40 million after he got hurt but before the sesaon ended, and Boogie told them to go kick rocks.
After that it's simply a matter of the Lakers renouncing Randle, and when he became available, AD wanted the Pelicans to jump all over it.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
Sounds like they shot him a deal that was lower than Boogie thought he was worth months ago, Boogie said no, and they didn't bother with another offer when free agency opened.
After the Lakers added LeBron, Rondo, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee and re-signed KCP in the first day of FA, Randle asked to be renounced because he knew his role would be diminished and he wanted to play, according to reports. New Orleans immediately jumped on him. I don't think they had very much interest in retaining Boogie, who at the Randle deal of 2/$18 with the 2nd year being a player option would have made out with 80% more money on the Pels deal. I don't think they put that on the table for Boogie in FA and he saw moves being made and his phone wasn't ringing so he said screw it I'll play for the Dubs for nothing.
