Once I realized I was older than the players I stopped wearing jerseys.Michael wrote:Grown men wearing jerseys of their favorite players is one of those things that's socially acceptable, but when you really think about it adults wearing player jerseys should be mocked. It's along the same lines as a grown man bringing a glove to the ballpark.
I get the golf attire over the weekend. If your going to a nice Country Club like Bellerive to watch you're not going to wear a tank top.

That was part of it for me, and part of me just not knowing if there was a dress code so I assumed wearing a polo was safe. There were a few people there wearing T-shirts, but not many, and none that looked to be ratty.stlouie_lipp wrote:Once I realized I was older than the players I stopped wearing jerseys.Michael wrote:Grown men wearing jerseys of their favorite players is one of those things that's socially acceptable, but when you really think about it adults wearing player jerseys should be mocked. As far as the jerseys/shirseys thing, I guess I just think live and let live. I went to the Cards-Royals game yesterday and wore a cap, t-shirt and basketball shorts that are usually worse than what I wear to games, and definitely worse than any jersey I ever owned. What does GRB approve of

I actually own a Pujols player jersey. It was more of a joke than a judgement. Adults wearing player jerseys is totally socially acceptable.MrCrowesGarden wrote: As far as the jerseys/shirseys thing, I guess I just think live and let live. Yep, live and let live. Just making an observation. People are funny the way we assimilate.MrCrowesGarden wrote:

I think part of the jersey thing for me is realizing that most players don't give a crap what team they play for as long as they get paid. When you're a kid you dream of playing for the Cardinals, Steelers, etc. and assume it's a dream come true for those who do. Then you get a little older and realize most of them don't really care. Heck, a lot of them aren't even fans of the sport they play; they're just good at it and it pays really well.

Re: Random musings
I would have been dressed in a dri-fit shirt and golf shorts if I had gone to the tournament mainly because that is all I really have to wear in the summer other than athletic shorts and t-shirts from various teams I've played on or charity events. I rarely buy clothing that I can't wear to work with the exception being a pair of shorts here and there. I play on enough teams and get enough t-shirts from events that I just don't buy them on my own. And of course dri-fit polo shirts are great for work during the summer months since we are business casual and pretty relaxed even then.
I don't own a single jersey and have never really had any team apparel since I became an adult. I have zero clothing with the Blues logo on it and I only have two items with Cardinals. One is a hoodie with a small 2006 World Series logo that isn't in the best shape so I never wear it anywhere other than some outdoor activity where I don't care if it gets ruined (and the weather is cold).
I did cave this spring and spent more than I should have on a Cards pullover though. I was meeting some friends and family at a game, the weather was chilly, I didn't have a jacket with me since I hadn't planned on going to the game and I was tired of the people I was meeting always giving me a hard time about never wearing anything Cardinal related to games so I hit the team store at the stadium before the game. I went with a simple grey pullover with a small bird on the bat logo inside of a baseball on the left breast. I just went to the team store online to try and find a picture of it but couldn't... and also realized just how much of a markup I paid for buying at the stadium. Wow. I paid $99.99 when the exact same thing in the online store is $69.99. The only difference is that the one in the team store that I found has the STL logo (like on the hats) instead of the logo on mine. Otherwise it is the same brand, material, style and size.
Were are the bots with the cheap jerseys for sale again?

Re: Random musings
I think wearing Jerseys is a little weird. Obviously socially acceptable but weird. I don't get any adult being a superfan of another person though. Like politicians. Trump, Hillary, whoever. There are people around here that have Trump painted on their barns and things like that. Trump aside it's so weird to me. It would be like if I put a Dan Gurney billboard on my barn. It's just weird.
