Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
Beware the NBA player who tells you how much harder he works than everyone else, for sure.
That said, MIN didn't make the playoffs for 13 years, and went 50-104 the two KAT/Wigs years before Jimmy arrived, then were a .600+ team in the games he played with them last year. We might not like his ways but his means speak for themselves. If KAT gets some teeth this year and Wiggins starts to translate his overwhelmingly awesome athleticism and basketball tools to real on-court value, then we can't argue with Jimmy's ways too much.

For the record, as a soft millennial myself, I deeply respect the pragmatic realism and priorities Jimmy's bringing to this issue.
He knows no one is winning [expletive] until the band breaks up in Golden State, and even then, only one team can win and he most likely won't be on it. Acknowledging that, what are his priorities? He wants to live in a fun, glamorous city. He wants to play for an organization and coach that are on the same page and holds players accountable. He wants to move this year so his full Bird rights will travel to wherever he ends up. The Miami Heat check all those boxes. As a bonus, the State of Florida doesn't do income tax. I'm not enjoying this dumb saga, but if I were him with all of those priorities, I'd do whatever I had to do to get to Miami.

Giannis isn't telling anyone who will listen that his team is garbage without him.33anda3rd wrote:Yes he's been out of the first round, twice, but again why does that matter for a player not on a mega-team in an era of mega-teams?
Giannis has never been out of the first round. Is Giannis not very good?
Butler is calling out his teammates, and that's not cool. KAT hasn't missed a game since he entered the league, and Butler is going to imply that he's soft? KAT led the team in WS last year, not Jimmy Buckets. In fact, KAT put up more WS last year than Jimmy B. has ever put up, in his entire career.
You're probably more right than I am about how effective Butler is, as a basketball player. I'll give you that. I think it's really obvious that he needs to work hard to be a better teammate, though. Don't tell me how you deserve to be "the guy", when your team is finishing 4th in their division every year.

I think you can safely make the argument--and Jimmy kind of is making this argument--that Butler is underpaid and Wiggins is vastly overpaid. That Butler is a force and Wiggins is a body who has yet to show he cares about anything.
Minnesota's best play last year would have been to dump Wiggins to get under the cap, then give Jimmy a supermax deal that would have started now.

I can agree with every word of that, 33.
Whether Jimmy B. really wants to be in Minnesota though...... I don't know.

Another regular season that will be a joke. The Rockets will do their best to make the playoffs competitive but they won’t. LeBron and co lose in first round. Boston will have a good year but it won’t be nearly enough. They will package some of their young players and assets To consolidate in a Anthony Davis type of player.
Regular season awards are meaningless. Players forcing their way out of small markets. Tanking will still be a thing.
THE NBA IS GREAT!

Surprised you don't like them since they stay in their lane and stand for the anthem.MAGA wrote:Another regular season that will be a joke. Paul Allen was a sports fan's dream as an owner: engaged, good to and present in the city, and willing to spend his balls off.
I'm sorry he never got a 'ship.
