I do it with a stapler and pretend it’s my old boss acting like he’s taking care of some issue I brought up but not really caring to actually use the telephone in his halfhearted ruse.
I suspect someone has told him I do this.

I can pretty much guarantee that I'm the only one on here stupid enough to do one thing with a stapler... staple my thumbs together. I no longer keep a stapler on my desk within reach.

Many years ago a coworker came over to my desk to chat about some work we were doing and I just absentmindedly picked up the stapler and started fidgeting with it. Before long it was flipped open and I was lightly pressing on the end with both thumbs. I pressed a little too hard and when I pulled my thumbs away there was a staple with each end stuck in a thumb. People got a good laugh about that.

If "Tutankhamen" is pronounced with a long U, then shouldn't King Tut also have a long U?

Not when you're using English phonetics rules for both.

My monday started off with feeling an itch on the back of my neck that I thought was the tag from my shirt. But it was actually a spider.
