Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread
Since they already opened Pandoras box with instant replay, maybe they should review some penalty calls.
No way of doing passing interference or holding , but seems like roughing the passer could be reviewed fairly objectively/easily. I think they do something like this with roughing the punter.
The arbitrary nature of outcome of game being decided by reviews, and calls that aren't reviewable seems like an integrity of the competition issue.

Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread
There is so much replay right now it is almost unbearable as is, especially in the last few minutes where every close play is reviewed.
I would almost go to a college type system, where there is an official in the booth that watches replays of every play and buzzes down if something was called wrong. Give the coach 1 challenge of what are currently a "judgment calls."
I think coaches having to challenge actual plays is pretty dumb, the college system is much better.

They’re considering this now. I think it’ll be nothing but a disaster if it actually happens, though.Freed Roger wrote:Since they already opened Pandoras box with instant replay, maybe they should review some penalty calls.

Anyway, go Patriots. I don’t care what they’ve done in the past with cheating or the fact that they win a lot; I just don’t want Kroenke to have any form of satisfaction.

Same. I'll be hoping for a Patriots win in a game I won't bother to watch.HardcoreCardsFan wrote:Anyway, go Patriots. I don’t care what they’ve done in the past with cheating or the fact that they win a lot; I just don’t want Kroenke to have any form of satisfaction.

Did you guys know that if there's not clear video evidence, that they say the ruling on the field "stands" instead of is "confirmed?" I dont think anyone has ever taken the time to explain this useful tidbit of information to me. Certainly not at least once a game.
